Problem with grilling nectarines....

I have seen Bobby Flay do this befoe and it looked so easy, putting them on the grill that is. I never saw him pit them. I planned to have them with a Martha Stewart recipe for griled hoisin marinated pork and when the time came I couldn't in any way separate the pit from the fruit in a tidy way to grill. Is there a trick to this?
