Putting together a small going-away/have a nice trip basket for someone on her way to Cozumel...

for the week, any ideas of what to put in it? Sunglasses, SPF-15, thought about a bottle of tequila. I saw a package of Mexican Fiesta rice in the store, but thought twice about getting that as it doesn't really fit the "vacation" theme!

Any other food item ideas? A salsa maybe. 'Not too familiar with Mexican food.

Someone asked about a gift for a beach vacation awhile back. She got some good responses

but I can't remember who it was.

Could you search for "beach" in content and subject perhaps?

A nice plush beach towel, and/or a floppy hat>>>

or maybe a nice magazine of interest, cooking, health or otherwise, book, water bottle (the kind with a little insulation around it to keep the liquid cool) or disposable camera, or small travel alarm clock, some snacks--maybe spicey nuts, an international phone card, and of course your address so she can send a postcard telling you about the great time that she is having!!

Ooo, Ooo . . . I have an idea . . .

Don't know your timing, but what about getting beach themed cookie cutters . . . lighthouse, seagull, shark, shell, crabs, fish, palm tree, lobster, etc. and bake a batch of cookies to take on the trip, as well as the cookie cutters to remind them of the trip later. Sur La Table carries a wide selection of cookie cutters that are quite fun, but I am sure you can find them other places.

The other ideas are good, too.

Dawn - what a sweet idea! Instead of a basket, put your items in a large tote that she can also use

Thanks, love these ideas, esp the tote idea. Foods that will keep for a week until she gets back?TIA

Or use one of those foldable insulated bags so she can pack up lunches or beach goodies to keep cool

I ended up...

I ended up getting a straw tote and filling it with a beach towel, SP-25, a travel magazine, a jar of salsa, cornbread, a small bottle of tequila, a little terra cotta votive holder(?), a disposable underwater camera, and a $5 gift certificate to Taco Bell for when she gets back!

(This all doubled as a birthday present, too!)
