Question about Buffalo Chicken Dip

I am going to make this for a pizza party on Saturday night. Can I use rotisserie chicken or should it be boiled? How do I do the chicken in the crock pot? I will be out all morning at soccer and football games so I like the crock pot idea.

Thanks

Kathleen

You could use a rotisserie bird...

I've not done the chicken in a crock pot, but I have nuked boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a bit of broth, let them cool a bit then chop. If you put the chopped meat on a plate and then press another plate on top of the meat, it will be pretty well "shredded".

The only caution I would add for a rotisserie bird is that with the cream

cheese and salad dressing it is already pretty salty. If the purchased chicken is as salty as some I buy it might push it over the edge.

Kathleen - I ONLY used rotisserie chicken from Costco for this now

It actually adds some nice flavor and we don't find it too salty and my husband is salt-a-phobic.

If I cook the chicken in a crockpot, I cook the chicken breasts (boneless of bone-in) on

low until they're done. Very tender that way. You could do that and then just shred the meat and follow the recipe as usual (I never boil meat).

Note: I usually use half ranch and half blue cheese dressing instead of all ranch.

It doesn't matter how the chicken is cooked. This is such a good recipe that,,,,

...it will all be snarfed up so fast you won't even believe it.

Rotisserie, steamed, crockpot- no matter. a great recipe for parties.

Thanks for the advice!

I have made this a dozen times but always poach the chicken right before. No time this time to do so. So, looking for short cuts.

Will try the half blue cheese/half ranch this time. Generally do all ranch.

Thanks!

the whole 12 oz bottle? really?

I downloaded this recipe and just got back from the store shopping for a party on Sunday. Having never made this before, my eyes popped out when I saw it contained an entire bottle 12oz. bottle of hot sauce. That's correct?

Looking forward to turning the company into Neanderthals when I set this out as you've all reported!

The WHOLE 12 oz bottle!

Yes, you really do use the entire thing...but be sure it's Franks!

Because the recipe makes a large amount and the cream cheese and dressing contain heat-moderating ingredients, it's spicy, but not screamingly so.

Enjoy.
