Question about Chicken Marabella how sweet is the end result. Does the sugar just balance

out the acidity or is there a pronounced sweetness to the dish? Just wondering because I may want to cut back on the amount of sugar.

Also, do you leave the prunes and olives unsliced??

Sorry for all the questions, but this dish gets rave reviews everytime, so I really want to try it.

Thanks -

I did not find it sweet but I did reduce the sugar, I did not chop

the prunes and used capers (which I'm still not sure if I really like, they did not mar the dish for me)

we had this tonight for dinner... it had a lukewarm reception.

After all the good comments, I was really looking forward to it. First off, no, it isn't too sweet at all. I halved the prunes, but you could quarter them. I left the olives whole, but they might have been better cut in half.

It was a very interesting dish and certainly worth trying to see what you think. For me, there was just too much going on - no one thing stood out (including the poultry). Tad too much oregano for my taste, and there was too much liquid. If the liquid had been thickened a bit so that it stuck to the hens a bit, it would have been better.

Sorry for being so underwhelmed, but that's just me. I dearly love the complicated flavors in Indian food, so it's not just the many flavors in one dish that put me off. As I said, flavor is good but would have liked to see the sauce thicker and less oregano.

Let us know what you think if you try it!
