how do you protect your counter tops when it comes to iron kitchen ware?

I have an iron book stand, and a few iron bowls and an iron morter. I have noticed that the iron stuff leaves marks on my counters tops - especially when it's humid.

Do I have to stop using my iron bowls and book stand (- did I say I LOVE iron???) or is there a trick out there that can save my counter tops AND let me keep my stuff on display???

How about using placemats or....

some other fabric protection under your iron pieces?
I do this on my dining table when I want to protect the surface from heat, scratches or moisture.
I find that either patterned tea towels or placemats work well.

how about those little, adhesive felt pads? they come in all sizes. if you are using the bowls in

the oven and washing them, just don't take the protective top off and actually stick them on?

never heard of iron bowls, they sound interesting smileys/smile.gif

I never thought of not taking the protective top off the felt pads. One of the

problems was that these kept falling off when I cleaned them! Good idea, Randi!

The iron bowl is mostly for decoration. I keep appleas and pears in there - and sometimes I use it for pocorn if I have people over.

I like the placemat idea too. I could use red for Christmas, yeallow for Easter and so on.
Than would actually look great! smileys/smile.gif
