This reminded me of the first time I iced a cake......
I readthe recipe and it asked for Powdered sugar, so I thought they meant Castor sugar so if that is what they suggest then so be it...a new recipe to try....and the cake I was making was a Clown cake for my 2year old, the first born.
Well, my young sprog was soo excited I was making this cake but really it was turning into a disaster...
I scraped off the castor sugar icing enough times I almost scrapped the cake away.
I was determined to get this new recipe right. Finally, fed up, I resorted to the icing I knew made with icing sugar. The cake worked fine of course, very colourful and set with "Smarties" which are chocolate button covered candies that look like M and M's (taste MUCH better)...My sister arrived just as I was finishing and my little one told her with such excitement.....
"Mama makie scrap cakie with farties on".
Children certainly can simplyfy things so.
I don't remember much that our next offspring said when they were little.
