Question: Saw a KitchenAid ad: Someone using the CURVED side UP of a small strainer. . .

mistral

to sprinkle the tops of cream puffs with powdered sugar (using the strainer *upside-down*). Later in the same magazine, a different picture (not an ad by KitchenAid) of someone else sprinkling powdered sugar using the INSIDE of a larger strainer.

Is the small strainer thing some sort of fancy sugar-dusting trick I haven't heard of? Or did the photographer/food stylist mess up with the cream puffs?

I saw that same image! And it confused the dickens out of me.

Although I'm thinking it was my King Arthur product magazine where I saw it?

how does the sugar stay on the strainer if upside down? I always use a strainer to dust sugar

but put the sugar inside the strainer and then shake it or use a spoon to get the dust going. I can't visualize the other way.

Mine has a ring around the edge. Sometimes it's easier to hold, upside down. (Or I'm just weird?) smileys/wink.gif
