We're having the time of our lives. What an amazing whirlwind of sites, sounds, smells, tastes, and experiences.

Tonight we dined at the former palace of King Farouk, a very elegant Egyptian palace on the sea here in Alexandria.

Off to Cairo tomorrow then flying on to Luxor to board our cruise boat and explore the Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel, Aswan and more.

Ma es salama.

As JEALOUS as I am, I still wish you a fabulous trip... eat everything, see everything!!

Great to hear an update! Can't wait to hear about the entire excursion! What a life experience!

I remember the night our driver drove us from Alexandria to Cairo with no lights on in the car.....

he thought, as do many there, that using the lights in the car wore down the battery. There were huge trucks filled with oranges speeding through the desert and he would only put on the lights when one came within earshot. Just terrifying. Beautiful stars though, like I have never seen, with no city light to dim them. I lived to tell it and remember it to this day. Have a great trip Richard, the best is yet to come for you.

LOL! I love those books!

For Marianne: run, don't walk, to the library and take out "The Crocodile on the Sandbank" by Elizabeth Peters. It's the first in the series.

I'd love to go to Egypt - the next best thing is vicarious visits, and I'm counting on Richard to Tell Us All.
