Range suggestions needed please....

My daughter in CA is doing a total kitchen overhaul. She is looking for a range that is not necessarily "gourmet", as she says, but is good quality and reliable. Price is not a major concern. Thanks to any one who has a suggestion for me to pass on.

Janet, do you know if she wants gas or electric?

If she has gas available I can highly recommend the one we just put in with our kitchen remodel last year. It's a GE Cafe 30" Stainless Steel Dual Fuel Sealed Burner Range with Convection (shown at the link). I *LOVE LOVE LOVE* this range. It has a 20,000 btu burner which has been great for doing things needing a high heat application, such as stir fries and searing, and a baking drawer on the bottom. My kitchen is very small and could not accommodate a second oven so the baking drawer acts as a second oven for me. I could go on and on about its merits but suffice to say that this range makes me smile every time I cook on it.

I should add that I previously used an electric range, for the past 30 years, in the very same kitchen, and wow, what a difference gas cooking makes.

Thanks so much Pat. She lives very near you, I think, on Golden

Gate Avenue. She wants gas and a 36". I forwarded your information to her.

Just PM'd you my email address if you/she wants to ask

me any questions...I'd be happy to help. I'm in Pleasant Hill, is she in San Francisco? She's more than welcome to come and see my range, if she likes.

Let me know if the PM didn't go through to you, it said it did on my end. smileys/smile.gif
