RE: Birthday Folder: Would anyone of you like a separate folder set up to list our birthdays?

This way, we would be able to quickly see whose birthday is coming up, and we can post Happy Birthday wishes on the main forum. Mimi will set it up if there's a large enough consensus. I think it would be a really nice feature.

To be honest...

I don't want to put that much personal information out there. I don't know if you remember, but I changed my name from Dawn/SanDiego, to d/sd, beforeI moved. That is because I was being stalked. I was on another website, where I play games, and they searched my user name and found out all kinds of personal information because of Gails, because I listed so much personal information.
My suggestion would be, to instead have a private group at Yahoo. It is a private group, and you can allow who you allow in. If you set up that sort of thing, I am in. Otherwise, no thank you, but good luck.

I'm in several groups at Yahoo and it doesn't seem to be private. Every once in a while someone

will post something and pretty soon the moderator of the group has to ban them.

I'm concerned with online privacy

So I wouldn't be participating, personally. Sorry Meryl!!!( Anyone in the world can see what's on this board, including Google. In my case, everybody knows my full name or can find it out very easily, although I believe most of you, luckily, don't have that problem.

I don't think it's ever wise to post personally identifying information publicly, which is why I'm reticent about this idea. But I can see how it would be a lot of fun for some, especially for those of you who haven't made your full name generally known. People who want to participate, can, if this is something that a lot of people want to do. You can opt in, or opt out. So I'm happy to set it up if there will be a lot of users.) I just didn't want to set it up if there will only be a few users. Like the Who Are You section, and the diet recipes, which never took off.

I could make the birthday list so that only members could see it, that way it wouldn't be indexed by Google. Just remember that anyone can become a member.

I think a members' list is ideal...and yes...

anyone can become a member, but the info likely won't be anymore public than we are already.
I appreciate your concern!

I think that a real birthdate is actually a dangerous thing to be listing about us as individuals.

(even without the year)

Oh, if only I could *sigh*... 44 sounds pretty good to me! smileys/smile.gif Month and day sound good to me.

What about doing birthday wishes by month instead. Like, on July 1st send best wishes to all the

July birthday people. That way, specific birthdates don't have to be mentioned.

Me, either; have been burned by ID theft before. So Happy Birthday, in advance, to you all! smileys/smile.gif

Yes, month and day only! I can't see where we can go wrong with that , even for those who

have already posted their full name or identity. Or, they could simply opt out if they're wary.

Also, no one would know our age - hee-hee!
