I finally got to see the coast line where the sea came ashore...WOW. One is truly blown away by the power of the sea...HUGE boulders were thrown up onto the road...thrown up more than 200 yards from where the sea usually slaps gently against the rocks, taking a large, well built deck with it.

Obilterating some of the wonderful restuarants and nightclubs and gardens and part of the runway too.

AND where there was once a golf course there is now a beach!!!Not a small beach, but a deep sandy beach LARGER then the original beach which is at least 150 yards wide in places.....

Quite a few houses along the water front also have their infinite pools now a beach!

There is still cleaning up going on but in swathes of areas. It really does seem to have been a lot of twisters that damaged the vegetation and not a solid blow as we usually get.

So incredibly weird.

As our friend wrote, "Mother, Mother Ocean", she is amazing, Sometimes not to our immediate benefit?

I can relate.

Yes- the twisters cause a LOT of damage-

Joanie, in 1992 (Sept 11!) Kauai got clobbered by Hurricane Iniki- 167 mph winds (gusts over 200) for SEVEN hours. Our poor island was devastated. Boulders in 3rd floor condos on the oceanfront- all the furniture and walls sucked out- almost every utility pole on the island down, hundreds of houses/ businesses lost. Sand where it never was before, no sand where sand was before, lives lost. Amazing to go through a Hurricane. It makes you realize, in the scheme of things, how tiny that island is that you are living on.
