and sooo easy to make. My DD tried it for the first time today and loved it. It even tastes better the next day.

THE BEST SPAGETTI SAUCE YOU'LL EVER EAT

1 1/2lbs. ground beef

1 Tbls. olive oil

1 1/2 cups chopped onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 Tbls. flour

1 cup bread and butter pickles,

chopped fine. (measure after

chopping.)

2 14.5oz. cans diced tomatoes

6oz can tomato paste

1 tsp. salt

2 tsp. oregano

2 tsp. basil

1/4 tsp. pepper

1/4 cup red wine

(I use 1/2 cup)

Brown ground beef and onion in oil. Add chopped

garlic and fry a minute longer. Add remaining ingredients and simmer, covered, about 1 hour,

stirring occasionally. Uncover and cook 15 minutes more to thicken. Serve over hot spagetti.

NOTES: I used more garlic than called for.

You'll be sorry if you leave the pickles out of this. They are the secret that makes this the best spagetti sauce you'll ever eat! Got this recipe from www.nancy's-kitchen.com

This reminds me of a round steak recipe that is rolled around a stuffing that contains >

a dill pickle. The pickle vanishes. It is yummy. I have to look this recipe up again as it has been a long time since I've made it. I will be sure to try this!

Karen, I would love to have this recipe. I had this, if you can believe, in Bali>>>

at a resort and it was delicious! Hope you can find it.

This is much like when I saw the recipe for Sauerkraut Chocolate Cake, must try it!

Question - Are the pickles discernable in the sauce?

Either in taste or texture. My DH and son have a strong aversion to pickles, but if they aren't distinguishable....

GeorgiaRose, they are not discernable. They add a bit of sweetness (m)

to the sauce, but not overly sweet. The wine sort of cuts this. If you do not tell them the pickles are in the sauce, they will never guess. I tried this on my DH and he is really picky about spagetti sauce.

Hi! I made this, this morning, and tasted it. Will have it

next time we have spaghetti. I wanted to cook some overly-ripe tomatoes.

It WAS very good. I was a little hesitant to use them (I used sweet relish instead) but it was very good! It adds some "tang" to the sauce, and although they do have a sweet taste, it's mellowed out a little from cooking in the "sour" tomato sauce. The wine was a great addition too!

I didn't use meat, so maybe I noticed the little pickle bits more than if I had, but if I didn't know they were pickles, I'da just thought they were little pieces of onion.

Very good! Thanks again, Misplaced!

I made this as written and it was really good. I think we should have

more cudos for good recipes we try here. I don't see enough of that. It's hard to gauge whether a recipe is worth trying if people don't try it and comment.
