The recipe states that you can use frozen berries if you don't have fresh, that the results will be the same. From Southern Living
Blackberry Flan
1/3 c butter, softened
2/3 c sugar
3 egg yolks
1/3 c milk
1 c all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp almond extract
Blackberry Filling (below)
Whipped Cream
Combine butter and sugar, cream until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks and milk, beating well. Add dry ingredients, mix well and stir in almond extract.
Pour batter into a greased 10" flan pan. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Remove from pan; cool. Spoon filling into center of flan. Serve with whipped cream. Makes 8 servings

3 c fresh or frozen blackberries
1 tbsp butter
Combine flour, sugar, salt and allspice in a saucepan; gently stir in berries. Add butter, cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until thickened. Cool Makes 3-1/4 cups.
