I made this for Thanksgiving dessert (my SIL made the pumpkin pies). It was easy and so good!

Chocolate Cream Pie

1 prebaked deep dish pie crust

2 4oz chocolate pudding mix -- (the small ones)

3 1/2 cups 2% milk

4 ounces German chocolate squares -- melted

2 tablespoons butter

Cook and stir all ingredients until full bubbling boil.

Remove from heat and let sit 5 minutes. Whisk back in any skin that has formed.

Pour into pie shell and place a layer of saran wrap on pie mixture so a skin doesn't form.

Chill at least 3 hours.

Remove saran wrap and "frost" with small container Cool Whip and enjoy!

 
This sounds great, but I have a question.

Is the chocolate pudding the instant kind or the cook-and-serve kind? I'm always searching for the perfect chocolate cream pie, and this one sounds so easy.
