I've been looking for a rich and fudgey cake recipe - in trying to mirror a cake that a local upscale bakery makes (they use an ingredient called 'fluid flex' and I can't buy it)- and I found it w/ this recipe.
I didn't follow the recipe exactly in that I poured the batter in 3 round cake pans. Also - I made a half-batch of all the fillings. The only thing I would change is that I would make a different frosting - I didn't like that this one softened so quickly.
Even if you don't make the fillings and simply use one frosting recipe for the inside and out - the cake itself is wonderful!
