1 lb ground beef

1 can mushroom soup

2 Tbsp flour

1 cup milk

1 Tbsp butter

1/2 cup sour cream

1 small shallot, diced

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 Tbsp A-1

dash cayenne pepper

black pepper to taste

1/2 lb (or so) uncooked egg noodles

Brown beef (or not) over medium-high heat, and set aside.

In a bowl, combine remaining ingredients and place in well-greased(!) crockpot. Add beef and stir - cook on high for an hour, then reduce to low, and cook until done (about 5 more hours).

Just a p.s. The flavor of the spices were AWFUL. Maybe it was...

just me, but I would not use nutmeg or cardamon in this again. Way too strong, and overpowered the beef.

Don't you just hate it when that happens?! You try something that ...

sounds good, and your tastebuds are all ready to go, and then ACCCKKKKK!

Thanks for letting us know Dawn!

Hi Orchid, I edited my post and removed it - orig rec called for...

1/2 tsp cardamom and a pinch of nutmeg )

P.S. I DO need new glasses, however. Especially with all this gloomy upstate NY weather these days! lol

This just proves that we just have to give things a try. You just really...

never know when unusual ingredients work or don't work. The cardamon and nutmeg seem unusual for a stroganoff but yesterday I finally made the Five Ingredient Chicken that I believe was originally posted by Dawn/(who used to be in San Diego). Now THAT is a strange combination of ingredients! Wow, was it ever good. I would have never tried it but because so many raved about it I gave it a go. Thanks for trying and letting us know when something doesn't work.
