Made this yesterday and loved it.

In the recipe where, next to an ingredient the message in parantheses is NOT from me, rather it's from the blogger.

Changes I made when I made it:

1) added an extra egg yolk

2) added 1 1/2 Tbsp. veg. oil

3) left out the ginger

I cooked it in a glass 8 x 8 dish and it needed only about 45 minutes.

Debra - not sure about your notes on adding veg oil

Thanks for fixing! I know I was looking at subbing fat free yogurt (or more buttermilk) for some of the butter in the cake and planning to cut back just a bit on the butter in crumb. Thanks for sharing this! We're loving the cherries! Colleen

 
1 1/2 Tbs oil

I think it just lends itself to a moister cake. I would have added more if it wasn't 1 layer.
