With the Jewish New Year tomorrow night and close to 20 at my house and another smaller batch the following day I needed several desserts.
I always make these (the description is from Cyndi)
Here you go...original recipe from Gourmet, posted first by Marilyn on Gail's. But to me, it will always be Reba's...
May you have a blessed, peaceful and happy holiday.
Reba's Honey Almond Ginger Biscotti
3/4 c. blanched almonds, toasted
1/2 c. unsalted butter
1/4 c. honey
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla2 lg. eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. crystallized ginger
Combine butter, honey, sugar, vanilla and eggs. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Mix almonds and ginger in. Form 3 logs, 10x2" , place at least 3" apart on greased baking sheeet (use butter wrapper to grease baking sheet). Bake at 325F., 20 minutes until golden. Remove from oven and cool 10 minutes. Slice; place slices on side, then bake 10 minutes. Remove from oven, turn slices over and bake another 10 minutes. Cool completely before storing in covered container or resealable bags.
I also made a Beekeepers Honey Cake which is still setting but I think it is delicious from the scrap I stole.
Now I need something desserty and I think it will be apple pie and ice cream.
So I do not have an exceptional recipe for apple pie or for pastry so anything would be appreciated.
