RECIPE: REC: Jumbleberry Pie - if anyone tries this, please post a review!

RECIPE:
I make mixed berry pies and crisps. n it's berry season here and I just throw

whatever I have into the filling and they taste great. I've also mixed peaches with blue berries and black berries. I don't add sugar unless some of the berries are bitter and even then, only a TBL you taste so much more of the fruits or berries when there isn't a large amount of sugar.

go for it.... smileys/smile.gif

I'm all for mixing fruit

I've made peach/blackberry pies, plum/cherry/bavarian cream pies, peach/elderberry jam, cherry/peach jam, cherry/mango jam, etc. The comingling of flavours is always interesting and adds a depth and layers of flavour that always surprises me. The peach/elder for instance, tasted like it was made from some sort of fantastic tropical berry.

No one has mentioned tossing some rhubarb in the berry mix? Yummers, and now.....

that we are getting to the end of tomato season, has anyone made green tomato pie. I actually had a bunch of volunteer tomatoes come up in some barrels in a logging camp I was working in. It was an unusual summer and they bore very well and when it start to get cold, one of the guys suggested green tomato pie, but didn't have a clue how it was made---long time ago, no sat phone or cell phone, so next time he was in town called his mom. It's made just like apple pie and the only thing I could think, was it tasted like gooseberry pie that I had as a kid.
