This was also well received at our Moroccan-themed dinner party (lamb tagine, saffron couscous, etc.)

Next time I’ll buy a container of slivered almonds as I had to blanch them twice to get the bloody skins off – very time consuming. I also would prefer toasted slivered almonds instead of the whole.

I found the orange flower water at a specialty shop called Food Source (Whole Foods has rose flower water but not the orange). It smells similar to the rose flower water that I have. For substitutions, scroll down at the Image link.

edited 12:26 p.m. to say that I added 1/2 cup of "bloated" golden raisins before chilling.

Ang, funny about the dinner party Saturday...

I had intended to also bring uncooked shrimp cakes to my girlfriend's house but didn't have enough time to make them due to the time consuming blanched almonds needed for the rice pudding and couscous, so I just took it all with me. I did forget to bring another stick of unsalted butter so I guess that's why she didn't use it in doubling the chili-lime cream sauce - or was it the champagne?

She had New Zealand lamb (approx. $3.49/lb. at Sam's!) and I cut that up while she helped me with a lot of other things. I think we took on too much to do because we didn't sit down until about 10:00 (Spanish dinnertime - LOL!).

We had triple cream brie, and duck liver pate that I brought over to go with the nice bamboo cheese board that I got her for Xmas.

We started with a tilapia/avocado ceviche laced with a lime wedge on a bed of lettuce with red onion in martini glasses (my suggestion for serving in) that she made for just she, her hubby, and I. Then her 3 teenage kids sat down and we had the shrimp cakes. I said there's one left and her hubby dashed into the kitchen to get it! We then had the lamb tagine (see link) saffron couscous (see image), warmed French bread, and the yummy rice pudding.

I’m pleased to say that everyone loved the dinner.
