I've only been trying for 30 years to make Lebkuchen at home like the Elisenlebkuchen one buys in Nurnberg. I just tested the recipe and it is spot on, perfect, authentic. Elisenlebkuchen is rolling out of the oven and 4 cherry Dresden Stollens on baking sheets ready to go in next.

If you've ever been to Nurnberg, Germany, sampled the Lebkuchen, and wanted to make it at home, now you can. I posted the recipe for Cyn earlier but had not yet tried it. Follow the link to the recipe...

The new house Lebkuchen!

I have no idea what lebkuchen is, but I share in your excitement and pride that you nailed the rec

Unfortunately, I can't "see" the image, but I have no doubt it is beautiful! Now, how do you have it sit (And not take a lil taste) until christmas eve!

I am so happy for you!

Merry Christmas!

My mom would make Lebkuchen, Leckerly and one other L that I can't remember.

I will definitely make these. Thanks, Richard!

Cyn, my Hirshhornsalz had gone bad so I subbed Pottasche...

(calcium carbonate - Hirshhorn is ammonium carbonate). In Lebkuchen you can use either leavening interchangeably according to info I got from a German cooking forum. I've never tried it with baking powder, though I don't see why it wouldn't work.
