I made these and served them for a dinner last weekend and everyone absolutely went nuts over them. Very simple really:

For 1 drink:

Mix and put in freezer:

1 oz. chambord

1 oz. cognac

Pour into chilled champagne glass, top with brut champagne, garnish with a lemon twist.

Notes: I just mixed up equal parts chambord and cognac, placed in the freezer early in the day along with the champagne 30 minutes before serving. Then I just poured the base into glasses and topped with champagne for quick mixing. Very refreshing.

I'm actually behind with the dinner party menus...

Marc from Seattle was in Cincinnati last week and we hosted him to the full Imperial Austrian dinner. I hope to post photos and the menu soon. But roughly, it was:

Appetizers: Regent's Punch, Austrian aspic-glazed canapes, Liptauer Cheese, Smoked Oysters and Almonds.

Soup: Austrian Crepe Bouillon

Salad: Austrian Composed Salad

Main: Roasted Duck with Apple, Chestnut, Prune, and Sage Stuffing and Duck Pan Gravy, Mulled Wine Red Cabbage, Potato Dumplings.

Dessert: Kaiserschmarr'n (Austrian Caramelized Rum-Raisin Pancake with Cinnamon Apple Compote)

Coffee: Coffee, Cognac, German Schnapps and Cordials, Florentines, Dark Chocolate Opera Creams.

Then this week we did a quick informal Austrian comfort food dinner for a departing friend:

Appetizers: Rue de la Paixs, assorted Austrian and Bavarian cheese, Vollkornbrot.

Dinner: Wienerschnitzel, Bratkartoffeln (baby yukons sauteed in butter and duck fat), asparagus, green salad.

Dessert: Fraisier Gâteau (Strawberry Buttercream Cake w. Grand Marnier Syrup) The link is to the actual cake, but it's on FB so some won't be able to see it. The image is a Fraisier, to give you the idea, but ours looked much better. smileys/wink.gif
