Another positive review! I have to stop saying "i have to try this," and actually try it.

 
I've got them marinating in the refrigerator now. Gonna have them for dinner. I'll report back.

 
Well, let me add a mixed review. John loved them, me not so much.

I think it might have been the sweetness that threw it off for me but again, John loved them.

 
I'm there with you Orchid. DH liked them a lot, me not so much.

Yup, it was the sweetness- I used Pat's tips and baked them at 350 instead of 325 and for almost 10 minutes longer than the recipe called for. That was just right- the cheese melted and the ham was hot. I found the combo of the Hawaiian sweet bread and the brown sugar-based marinade to be cloying. Sorry everybody.

 
I thought it sounded sweet so now I am warned. If/when I tackle these I will use less sugar.

 
If I were doing it for dinner, I think I'd leave out the sugar too. For brunch it was good. Also...

Try using the Hawaiian dinner rolls instead of the original sweet ones.
