I am very glad I did not read the reviews of this cake before I made it. I probably would have not bothered with it. I think it was fabulous and DH, usually on portion control, (wish I had that will power) had two pieces! We found it very flavorful and it had a wonderful texture, not dry at all. I guess the stars were aligned in my favor tonight for it to turn out so well.
Just for full disclosure, I did serve honey poached pears, apricots and dates alongside but this did not change how good the cake was by itself! Oh, and my sour cream was of the "light" variety.
