one other thought: would vacuum-sealed slices of this travel well?

I mailed cookies out to CA and they took 10 DAYS to get there. I need a better solution.

 
Marilyn, I would think so....the article states that the cake travels well. It is lovely and

delicious and I hope you enjoy it. I made it yesterday.

 
Good to know! I put a whole bean in 3 cups of sugar 2 weeks ago and didn't know if it was enough!

 
Speaking of...Martin Yan laid the bean flat and sawed it open lengthwise. Much easier than

trying to slit it open by running a knife vertically and peeling back the stiff bean.

The two halfs are laid open and cleaning the seeds out is more efficient.

 
thanks Gay. copied and will use up my slivered almonds, toasted, instead of hazelnuts. I have a

bunch left from those Christmas mice ears and this will be tasty with almonds as well. thanks.

 
I baked it last night. have it wrapped and ready to take to work tomorrow. serving it with

quick chocolate sauce(SW C milk and choc chips melted together). I used my WmSn vanilla bean paste for the vanilla. can't wait to taste it. was quite easy to put together. baked in bundt pan.
