Bratwurst

6 to 8 Bratwurst

8 ounces Lowenbrau Special beer

1 large onion, sliced

2 to 3 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

Pierce brats with fork. Grill for about 8 minutes. In a pan, heat butter until soft. Add brats and beer. Cover, simmering on low for 20 minutes to 1 hour (longer cooking brings out more flavor). In a separate pan, melt 1 to 2 tablespoons butter. Add onions, cook until onions are clear. Remove from heat, stir in brown sugar. Serve with brats on buns, topped with onions and German mustard.

Red Cabbage and Apples

2 tablespoons butter

1/2 head red cabbage, shredded

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

2 apples, diced

2 tablespoons red current or grape jelly

2 cloves

1 cup vegetable or beef broth

Melt butter in skillet, add cabbage and lemon juice. Add rest of ingredients, cooking 15 to 20 minutes.
