Recommendations for a new Freezer/Fridge?

Believe it or not, my current refrigerator is 43 years old. The only one I've ever owned.

Maybe, maybe not. That brand may not even be available now and to use an

oft quote "they don't make 'em like they used to." I firmly believe that because of a lot of technology that has been added.
I'd look at consumer reports--and then i'd look at the scratch and dent department for a discount on a good model.

I don't have a specific recommnedation, but do remember to measure the space you will

put it carefully, and keep in mind the direction the door will open and how much clearance it needs.

We just replaced our fridge and it was difficult to find one that fit in our space.

Read the reviews before purchasing, there is a lot of helpful info out there.

Really good advice. When I replaced a freezer that we had space built in

to fit the last one i almost had to downsize.
The choice of styles is really different now also==side by side, French door, etc.
I would NEVER have a side by side in my home--have one at our beach house and it is fine for a week!!

Interesting

I always thought that the pull-out lower drawer would be a pain and that I'd lose things by burying them.

i think any "new to you" configuration will take getting used to. I hate the side by side

because you can't get wide things in.
Our kids bought a top of the line French door and the pull out drawer, thought they would love it and HATED it.
I had a big bottom drawer in a regular fridge and loved it. Much more that a top freezer. But it was a regular door, not a French door.
Hotpoint is no longer an independent company, as most aren't.
Hotpoint) is an American and European brand of domestic appliances. Ownership of the brand is split between the American company Whirlpool, which has European rights, and Chinese company Haier, which has North American rights since its purchase of GE Appliances
KitchenAid refrigerators is owned by someone else--maybe Whirlpool! BUT they never did make refrigerators and it was only their brand name that was bought.

I have always had bottom freezer refrigerators and always will. Big wide door on top

lots of room for big stuff inside. The bottom freezers usually have a top slide out compartment over the big, deep on at the bottom. So easy to organize stuff .
