Recommendations for best-selling bake sale items. Organizers asked for smaller

Items that patrons could buy and still walk around the big street fair that bake sale will be part of.

Everything will be donations from me so I have to pace myself or I’ll overspend (per usual). One person suggested my Dyslexic sauce but that’s way too expensive in ingredients & jars to make a profit for them. It would be cheaper for me just to give them the cash.

Thanks.

Am I correct that something like cupcakes wouldn't work because they would be hard to carry around? Somethings that might hold up are decorated pretzel sticks, LARGE cookies (people like big) or a bag of bitesize cookies. Are you staying away from chocolate because of the heat?

Marilyn, How about Madeleines or these Award winning Trifecta Bars....https://www.modernhoney.com/bake-sale-trifecta-bars/

I forgot how much people like rice krispie bars! Dip them in candy melts (or white chocolate depending on heat) and some sprinkles:)

No. I think they (organizers) just don’t want full-size cakes or pies. Cupcakes would work. Love the chocolate-dipped pretzel idea. I've done loads of those as gifts.

Gay, I've only made madeleines to serve warm at the end of the meal. Are they any good cold? I honestly don't know. And I'm gonna consider the Trifecta cookie, but hope mine looks like the cover of the magazine (no photoshop, please) and not her blog visuals. Those did not look good to me.

I know there is a section in great threads for bake sale items, but it doesn’t look like it’s been populated yet. Maybe someone saved it?

Marilyn, what did you decide on? (as I'm knee deep in decorated high school graduation cookies for a neighbor)

Hi Deb,

I was finally able to get in touch with the food coordinator and bounce a few ideas off her since she's run the food portion of the fair for several years. The end requests were fairly simple and common items: Cake pops (sold in multiples) and brownies in addition to scones since the food tent opens to the public at 7:30 AM. That means I'll be baking that morning so the scones are super-fresh. I may portion out my lemon curd, strawberry jam and chocolate sauce in 2 TBL containers (like they do for salad dressing or ketchup) and sell them for additional $$ with the scones. Too expensive to give just away. I was going to do sweet and savory but they're also going to sell Bojangles sausage biscuits so I' won't even try to compete with that. Apparently other folks will be dropping off baked items to sell as well. Sondra told me those would get sliced up and put into clear clam take-away containers.

Hope to find Michelle's (Canadian) frozen scone instructions. Not sure when she posted those.

I think your game plan sounds wonderful! And I totally get it about costs. I recently tallied the costs of ingredients for my chocolate cake and it's around $40!!
