Refrigerators...French door vs. side-by-side. Would like opinions, pros and cons from

We just got a LG with French doors I really like it but have to open both doors

to get to the bottom drawer. Thats my con, love the large freezer on the bottom.

I'm probably the only one but I truly detest this bottom freezer arrangement.

I have to pull everything out to get something. It's all at floor level instead of eye-level. So much gets forgotten because I just don't want to keep emptying those drawers whereas with the side-by-side it's all so organized.

I like the width of the French but in fact, don't really need it enough to make it worthwhile.

I have a freezer on the bottom refer with just one door. It is a Sub-Zero

You need lots of room with the two doors that open out, and for me, having to open two doors would be a pain. I dislike the side by sides because they have no room...too narrow. I like to be able to fit a sheet tray in my refer if I need to.
My bottom freezer is divided into three compartments. Not sure if it is adjustable as I have used it for 14 years the way it is and love it. Of course, I have a full freezer in the laundry room. So the kitchen freezer on the bottom is for many things we use everyday, like breads, sandwich rolls, etc.

I arranged the drawers in the fridge section with a 2" vertical gap between. It was really

no loss in terms of total storage, but I could just slide a sheet tray, or an hors d'oeuvre tray in without rearranging anything. It worked really well.

we have this same configuration--not convenient for that long drawer. newer models have a great

drawer that opens on it's own, between the upper fridge and the lower freezer. I would use this a lot for much used items. pay close attention to how the shelves/bins are arranged so that you can open just one door to access all in that one half. You just have to remember what you have in each side to save you from opening both doors every time to find something.

No, I agree with you.

I love my side-by-side, and can get a a large baking sheet into the refrigerator side if I need to. I like the little drawers in the freezer, so I can easily see what's in there, and can assign different drawers to different types of food. It starts out that way, anyway.
