Remember the thread about the cookbook that has Steve's Bar Mitzvah cake cake in it? I found a copy!

And how we waxed poetic about the famous Coffee Crunch Cake? (thread at link) I posted in that thread a link to buying a download of the now out of print "Love To Bake Pastry Cookbook" By Ernest Weil. However, I really wanted *the book*. After all these were the bakeries/cakes of my childhood.

Well, guess what? Ebay search finally came through and...the book just got here! And guess what else? The book is in brand new condition! And guess what else? Turns out it's autographed! I'm doing a serious happy dance here!!!! It's a lovely book full of family stories (love that) then gets right down to business with tons of recipes from the bakery and ones handed down through the family. I know what I'll be reading today! Just had to share!

The editor/tech writer in me wants to rewrite all the recipe instructions but, wow yumminess

I can see some new items that are going on the holiday baking list.

Likewise. smileys/wink.gif (Plus question for MariaD inside.)

Maria, I tried to PM you, but it didn't work. Would you mind sending an email to me at slatterye at blah blah gmail blah blah dot com, please? (Sorry--just trying to avoid the spambots.) smileys/wink.gif Thank you!

OK; this is my silly sense of humor to share on a sunday night. You know how when you begin typing

in the subject line; eat.at defaults to one that you typed previously.

I started my post with "very cool" and the default was:

"Very cool! Love Dr. Seuss! Will you be serving it or just using as a prop?"

I am glad that I was looking at the screen, before I hit enter!! I am sure it would have seemed very odd!

Will do, but do a search on ebay, then do a save this search...

then they will email you if one gets listed. That's how I found this one, but if I see one in a store (I do like used book stores) I'll grab you a copy. Might get lucky since it's local.

I did a saved search, got the email, and snagged it as soon as it was listed.

Thanks! I've never tried that and will definitely do it.

I was thinking about buying the rights to the digital copy to print and using the files to do a book at MyPublisher. I'm thinking they might reject that since it is copyrighted, even though I would be purchasing the rights to print one copy. But, never hurts to ask.

Thanks so much for the info!

Oh if you've never done this with ebay...let me say I'm sorry right now for all the trouble...

I will get you into to. Because this is how to find all those weird hard to find things. Just plug it into ebay and somebody will show up listing it at some point and poof - you get an email when they do.

Just do a search for what you want, then click the Save This Search link. smileys/smile.gif

Maria, no apology necessary. I spend what I want and that's it. But I am having some

problems refining the searches since some of my obviously generic saved searches are producing all sorts of mayhem in my inbox!
