Our freezer broke with this heat. Sadly, we lost so much food. It pained me throwing it out, not only remembering what recipe I was going to make with it, but also knowing the $.

Not a fun Sat, But had to move on, as it was a family birthday celebration that I hosted. Typical grill, less a lot of sides, as I was busy in the am w my freezer. BUT, fun family time was had by all. I don't know if it is wine or age, but I seem to outwardly just go with the flow.

Today, Monday, I had to make sure everything was out for garbage man before 7:00, as I know that the cans would have been invaded if they were left out overnight.

I have a huge ice cream mess in garage. I have learned that Home Depot Construction black bags do have holes and have a huge mess in the garage and the driveway!

uggh!!!

((barb)). My favorite *feel-better* item is ice cream, but I'm pretty sure you're not in that kind

of mood right now.

Looking for the "make lemonade" bonus: The garage floor will get a good scrubbing!

The only thing that did make me smile it is not only garbage pickup today, but also recycling. I

gave them all blue bunny cones that were still frozen. They were all so appreciative. Such a hard time to be working outdoors with this heat!

So sorry to read about your mess + the food loss. What a bummer! I'm w/ Marilyn in that my

feel-better food is also ice cream. Obviously, that isn't gonna do the trick to raise your spirits right now. Hopefully, things around your house will improve soon!

Aw, yipes! What a bummer. My Dad had his freezer pop open in the garage. It was summer...

...in Missouri, so the heat was pretty thick. It was an old freezer, so the compressor gave up pretty quickly and he had the same result you had.

Such a waste, and such a mess to clean up!

Oh I feel your pain.

When Cincinnati experienced its first ever hurricane (Ike, category I when it hit), it wiped out 90% of the Cincinnati power grid and I was without electricity for 9 days. I felt like I had returned to the stone ages. Luckily, that 10% that still had electricity (because they were in newer houses with underground wires) included a few friends so I divied up the contents of my two fridges between three friends (who all had empty freezers??? Bizarre I know).

Another time, I had a company working in my basement to install sump pumps. The Neanderthals unplugged by basement fridge, didn't ask if they could, didn't tell me, didn't plug it back in, and I didn't find it until a week later.

Yes, it was rather disgusting. I had about 20 pounds of venison in there from my dad's farm and I was particularly upset about that.

Of course company immediately denies any culpability and the lady answering the phone "knew" that they would not have unplugged my freezer, and that someone else must have done it (and moved it).

Luckily I had not paid them yet because I was still battling with them to repair all of the other damages they caused while on the property, so I just added that to the list.

Amazing the power one still has when the bill has not yet been paid.

Any minute for us, but... Almost 2 years ago (8/11/14)

our basement was flooded (14") and our 1986 GE side-by-side was breached just barely into the bottom drawers, but including all electrical/mechanical components underneath. The power-sucking beast was already on life support after the condenser fan failed - DH caught it in time and positioned a box fan for supplemental cooling (still there smileys/wink.gif. Another of my TTD - empty basement refrigerator - I have yet to get to. Colleen
