TFT GBH went Code Blue during triage, but I think the resurrected patient may recover. It's never be the same, considering it's a gingerbread house without any gingerbread. Like the promises politicians make during elections.

Photos tomorrow when I reunite Dolly, the cloned TFT GBH with its sack of toys, Max and sled.

 
Well, I can relate.

On Halloween it was my boss's birthday. We were in the middle of board meetings and it was a busy time. However, I decided to pull out the recipe for the cake and frosting I begged my Mom to make me for my birthdays (50+ years ago) because I knew my boss would love this cake. The cake turned out perfectly- could not have been better. A banana cake. The filling is a cooked banana filling that is wonderful. It turned out perfectly. The frosting was Seafoam frosting.....I made it zillions of times in Minnesota before moving to Kauai. You simmer sugar, Karo syrup and a little water to soft ball stage and beat into beaten egg whites, etc- standard recipe and I know how to make it. I made sure I had new Karo, new everything and it turned out great. I thought. I forgot how humid and hot it is here. I took the cake and frosting to work and frosted it there after refrigerating. No matter. The frosting simply sagged down the sides of the cake and pooled after about 15 minutes. What a sight. It tasted great but my pride was damaged. The Housekeeping Manager made a cake out of boxes with pre-made bought frosting and it held up perfectly. Sigh. Sorry though- I won't go to boxes.

Boxed icing is not exactly seafoam frosting! I feel your pain!

Of course, Irving never had weather MELT a cake or HUMIDITY collapse a gingerbread house or he wouldn't have been so light-hearted about meteorological interference.

 
You should have said it was a caramel lava cake - chocolate lava cake's more sophisticated brother!
