Hi all,

I was recently in Virginia for my mother's birthday, and we took her to L'Auberge Chez Francois in Great Falls. It was FABULOUS. The Auberge has a prix fixe menu; the food was excellent, and the service was wonderful.

The price depends on your entree (which range from $50-$70), and includes a house aperatif (champagne with a raspberry), three kinds of bread and home-made butter, an amuse bouche (quiche), the house salad, a scoop of sorbet to cleanse the palate, appetizer of your choice (I had a plate of pate with cucumber and beet salads), entree of your choice (I had a mix of crab, lobster, shrimp, and scallops in a cream sauce), dessert of your choice (I had plum tart and cinnamon ice cream), coffee or tea, and a cookie with a piece of chocolate. We literally spent three hours eating. Thank goodness we hadn't eaten lunch.

I definitely plan to go back to this place. It's a special occasion restaurant, but totally worth the price. And it's a very pretty drive to get there.

Just thought I'd pass it along.

Amanda
