I'm turning 50 in March and am taking my sisters to Vegas for the weekend. We really aren't gamblers ($10 in quarter slots - LOL) but I wanted to go somewhere that we could have great meals, great shows and do lots of people watching.

I would love to hear your dinner favs!

Thank you, Deb

Lotus of Siam

It has been many years since I was there but the food was amazing. It is pretty far from the strip (I had a rental car), in kind of a questionable looking area. I had some difficulty finding it as it is tucked away in a strip mall. All of a sudden I am craving larb.

Most are on the pricey side, but I'd rather spend it on good food than the slots! :)Happy B-Day!

Fun Bar Scene: Red Square: Mandalay Bay: many many vodkas (frozen vodka tasting room)

Craft: MGM: nice sleek interior.great for groups, everything served family style, had several group functions there and everyone loved it. I’m not a meat eater and there was plenty to choose from.

Bartolotta: Wynn: beautiful place—ask for “lakeside” seating (it’s a very pretty reflecting pool) very special for your b-day!
great seafood and pastas $$$

Spago--Forum Shops at Caesars
Either casual ("patio dining") or dining room inside:

Mon Ami Gabi
Eiffel Tower: both at Paris (I just love that hotel, more manageable than most LV’s these days)

Scarpetta: Cosmopolitan Hotel: fantastic—stick to the pastas

Michael Mina: Bellagio

Bouchon: Venetian
Delmonico's (an Emeril resto) at the Venetian haven’t been here in a while, still gets good reviews

Best Brunch: at the Wynn: good value to quality, presentation and atmosphere, worth every penny! I think they take reso’s for 6+

Burgers: Fat Burger: on the strip (past NY-NY (?)
ok, it's fast food, but good! And your wallet will need a break!

Happy B-day!!

Deb, my CA friend goes there often for Cirque shows, but not many restaurants. Here's Sandy's take:

MUST do the brunch buffet at the Wynn. Spectacular.

MUST do shows:
La Reve at the Wynn (Cirque-like show in water, tells a story, beautiful)
KA at MGM Grand (Intense, also story like. Will blow you away.)
O at Belligio (Cirque show, also involving water, amazing.)

I've not eaten at fancy restaurants there so, no help with that.

MUST SEE- new casino, The Cosmopolitan. Next to Bellagio The entire interior is one GIANT 3 story chandelier. It's awesome.

Favorite casino: Bellagio
Favorite swimming pools: Bellagio (although I was there recently and all the outdoor pools are closed for the winter)
Mandalay Bay has a wave pool in summer with a real beach. Wild.

good mention of pools closing in "winter". call if you really want a pool. I think some are closed

till april.

Thanks Marilyn - we are staying at the Bellagio!

and I didn't know about the hotel next door - will definitely check it out.

I've seen several Cirque shows so I was hoping to get tickets to a show that came highly recommended - 4 guys singing Motown. But wouldn't ya know - they are off the one weekend we are there. So I got tickets to "Menapause - The Musical" since we three range between 46 and 52 and when we are together it's nonstop laughter.

I did make a place holder reservation at Wolfgang Puck's Bellagio restaurant as a start!

Brunch at the Wynn sounds GREAT!

The ceiling at the Bellagio by artist Dale Chihuly is fabulous! He has a smaller

version in his private residence here in Seattle. Even better? He's got an indoor swimming pool and the bottom is lined in the same fashion as the ceiling. (He's got a sheet of plastic or glass over the top of glass art underneath, but it's lit beautifully--just like swimming in a tropical underwater world. Fabulous!)

Here's an article about his house:

And linked is an article about the Bellagio instillation.

Had a wonderful dinner at Top of The Palms.

Not trendy. Really excellent food, service and view.

I've seen several of Chihuly's installations. Just watched a DVD of his Jerusalem installation.

That was wonderful because it showed the full process from conception to installing the metal skeletons to attaching the glass (or other tranlucent media).
