In-and-Out on steroids.

Thicker patties, more toppings ("with everything" includes mayo, tomato, lettuce, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, pickles(they were kosher dills), mustard and ketchup, and they had even more than this list). Fries come in two sizes, big and bigger and the threw a lot extra in with the "small" fry I ordered. You can get the fries with just salt or "Cajun", which is spicy but not very spicy-hot.

Probably, if I had to choose between the two, 5 Guys and In-and-Out, I would choose In-and-Out. . . 5 Guys says they cook their burgers to a "Juicy well done", but mine was dry-ish.

I love their fries because they're the closest to Mom's fries from my childhood.

Russets double-cooked to a deep golden brown. To me, this is what a french fry should taste like. I either had to go home or Belgium to get good fries before.

In the other hand, their burger is so-so, with no seasoning to speak of. We always make sauteed mushrooms and onions at home, so 5G's option isn't that unique. I'm lucky that Larry makes a really good burger--I've yet to find one as good as his.
