Whoops - I hit return too soon!

As soon as I saw the recipe that charlie posted:

http://www.finerkitchens.com/swap/forum/index.php?action=display&forumid=1&msgid=93563

I printed it out and it landed on top of the to-try pile. Then I read the link that Pat posted in the same thread to another version of the recipe, plus the accompanying article from Fine Cooking:

http://www.taunton.com/finecooking/articles/how-to/doughnut-muffins.aspx

Basically - the recipe charlie posted is the the halved version of the one printed in Fine Cooking, but the biggest difference is that it advises rolling the muffins in powdered sugar vs cinnamon sugar as the Fine Cooking recipe states. I figured I'd try both ways - all in the interests of food science, of course!

This recipe will definitely become part of my regular repertoire - and we had a tie between favoring cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar -taste wise, and in the looks department, cinnamon sugar wins hands down, so try both!

Let's see if I can get my picture to post here:

And here is one of the Taste Testers:

LisainLa the muffin that tastes like a donut look so delicious have you tried it? I just have to

have one~ I'm dying to know how they taste ~ I will have to make these and the quickest day I can will be next Saturday ~ This is going to drive me nuts until then.

Thank you for posting the recipe ~ I will make it.

Hi Diann - yes I've tried it - they are both the same recipe, in different proportions.

I listed both to compare, since one gives directions to roll in powdered sugar, and the other in cinnamon sugar.

I think I will use ginger sugar and cinnamon ~ to kick it up a bit ~ Thanks again for posting the

recipe Lisa

Ginger Sugar

To make your own ginger sugar:

just mix 1 teaspoon freshly ground ginger with a quarter cup of granulated sugar, and shake well.

I like to add a pinch of ground cinnamon to kick it up ~ Ginger sugar is tasty, I like it

Heyyy, I was just in Healdsburg yesterday, stopped in Downtown Bakery and Creamery

and had one of the doughnut muffins with cinnamon sugar on top. So tasty.

Little Miss Macey is such a doll.

I made these and they're great. Didn't last long. Not overly sweet, and moist. Very similar to the

Snickerdoodles Muffins recipe that was posted here.

Thank you, Pat. I'm curious - did you notice if the bakery does both versions?

I've got to make another batch of these!
