RIP, Marcella Hazan. May there be San Marzano tomatoes in heaven. xoxo

Aw no. She was my friend in the kitchen. I"ll get out one of her books & make something completely

new to me for dinner tonight. Thank you Marcella.

Her cookbooks were my top "go to" (along with "the Way to Cook" by dear Julia.) Some of

Marcella's recipes can't be topped. So simple and so good. Ossobuco, macerated fresh fruit, lasagne, on and on. I particularly love my 1983, falling apart, copy of "The Classic Italian Cook Book". It has suggestions for dishes to accompany each recipe. Excellent when you are asking yourself, "what shall I have with this". RIP, dear Marcella.

Marcella lived not far from me in Longboat Key and I must have passed her condo

at least a hundred times en route to my former job via Gulf of Mexico Drive. I often wondered what fine beachfront condo she lived in as there are many.

Jada Hair of Steamy Kitchen (a local chef and cookbook author) had the opportunity to meet and interview with her about a couple of years ago. Curious1 gave me the link. Marcella was a fascinating woman from what I've read about her.

I had the pleasure of meeting her son Giuliano about three years ago in Sarasota in a former job and I have his business card. A very pleasant man.

She passed at 89. Here's the announcement from my local news station.
