Robbie Burns Day. First time I had Guiness stew. I am sure going to buy some for my next stew since

I was absolutely stunned at how rich the broth was, without its relying on salt. This pub was awarded best Irish pub in N.A. so I hope that the stew is not peculiar to it and that I can replicate it. I have never had anything quite this rich. (almost as good as the bagpipers) And I kept waiting for them to march up the stairs above me, but that was not happening.

ooooh I am so heartily impressed. I see some recipes here and will sort through them.

Now I wish I had had the Guinness brownies.

Please post when you find a winner Guinness stew recipe smileys/wink.gif

I still have a bottle of Guinness that I have been saving to cook with. And yes, the brownies and stout chocolate cake recipes are at the top of my list! Colleen

Best STP for me was from a restaurant in Wales. Lots of sauce on that too.

we begged for the recipe and they gave it to us!

Marg, Cook's Country had a recipe a few years ago that I've seen several times on blogs

with rave reviews I see there's a copy here on Epicurious. I've never made it because I'm not a fan of beer and thought it might have too much beer flavor for me. I thought I'd post it for you to see. If you google Guinness beef stew cook's country, you will see blog posts and comments about it.

I save myself for martinis as well. But I did not notice any beer flavour in what I ate & thought it

interesting that people commented on the bitterness. I sure didn't come across it. Also that the beef is not browned first as one cook commented.

I had an Irish friend whom I watched make a soup or stew.......she put everything, including the meat, into a pot and added water. I'm sure my toes were curling, so I now have to try this and rebuke myself.

I am getting excited about this now. (not the rebuke but more stew)

Gonna do it!!

Thanks Curious.
