Sad to read this about restaurants in France

This is so sad but true, it seems to be a trend. Just notice all the prepared food

near the meat department in all the grocery stores. Years ago, there were only TV dinner in the frozen aisle. Now, all sorts of prepared foods are available. Most, I have found are not that good. One time, when preparing for a trip in our RV, I picked up a package of Harris Ranch beef stew. It was very good, so the next trip I picked up a different beef dish and it tasted the same as the stew! I always feel cheated when I resort to that type of prepared foods, like I am missing my own food carefully prepared, with fresh ingredients, and the best I can find.

I have only found one thing, so far, at Trader Joe's that I like, which is the eggplant parmesan in the prepared foods section. I keep trying to find brands that are delicious with healthy ingredients. A local Italian couple here, have a sausage business made with whole foods, no chemicals, lots of fresh herbs and spices, plus wine and even brandy. Their sausage is wonderful and you can tell it is very fresh, many made with organic chicken. They just expanded into putting out frozen lasagna, chicken alfredo, and spaghetti and meat balls, all old Italian family recipes. I just got their lasagna at the Farmer's Market last Saturday, have not tried it yet. It is nice to have something like this for those days you are not wanting to cook. A real plus for us is that they make their recipes and pack them for two people. I love that.

It will be interesting to follow this up to know if some nomenclature laws are established

as a result.

I must say, though, that these preprepared foods that one can buy in the supermarches of France, are pretty darn wonderful if you are short of time. But really, stay home if that's what you want to eat.
