and they came, fortunately I got the whole grains and not the ground as I thought. Then I wondered into a new tiny spice shop near my house and there they were!! Who knew!!! The young lady/part owner knew exactly what they were and asked if I were making apple pie. Of course I shared SallyBRs recipe with her. I went right home and made the cake. It is so delicious. I can't wait to try my grains of paradise in more baked goods. I think it will go into some zucchini bread next.

I ordered my grains whole because I think all pepper is best ground

as needed. That cake is really tasty!

 
I think somewhere in the thread about this cake, it was suggested the Grains of Paradise are best

ordered whole. I use a coffee grinder to grind my spices. Works so well.

 
SallyBR, I've no doubt that U are singlehandedly responsible 4 any recent spike in the stock price

of Grains of Paradise. My Spice House order was delivered this past Thursday, and the recipe is lying on the counter...just waiting for me to find time to mix up that cake!

 
I was amused when dh read the label of a bottle of beer. Brewed with lemon peel & grains of paradise
