Sandy in Philly, just thought of you and your love of Indian food...

Aw thanks Pat but Meryl already posted it up at #5255. It did look through

the link. Lol - would you believe I just got done eating a low fat tater & veggie frozen curry called Pav Bhaji? - whoa it's good spicy stuff on a very chilly day like today .

I love samosas and use the filling only, as a side veg. Went to a turkey samosa party recently &

had our friend's various uncles all wanting to show me how to fold samosas. That was fun, but I then learned that we can buy samosa pastry sheets. Never knew they would be available.

Our friend, from the black days of Uganda made samosas with ground turkey. They were quite terrific.

Samosa filling as a side is a great idea Marg. The next time I make a curry

I’ll try that. I’ll also check my Indian grocer for the pastry sheets.

What fun to go to a samosa party! Did your friends dice or shred the turkey and did they fry or bake the pastry?

I found this Kenyan samosa which looks similar to an Indian one but uses egg roll wrappers (see link).

Pastry sheets?

I would love to get ahold of some pastry sheets. When I make samosas I use an old Sunset magazine recipe from the 70's. It's basically flour, shortening and yogurt. It's quite good (even if not authentic), but pretty delicate to work with. I use it with a meat filling (ground beef, spices, yogurt as a very slight binder).

Pam your messages are even more cryptic than mine. To answer...I haven't seen them here yet

but since I know that they do exist, I'll hunt them down. I'm not fond of deep frying so prefer to eat the filling as is.

I don't know how cosmopolitan your region is, but here, everything goes, and everything is available (except poblanos in my neighbourhood, natter natter).
