I'd be tempted except for the price. Maybe I can kludge a version myself. I have the wire cutter

but it's pretty useless against a tougher crumb, like carrot cake and some chocolate cakes.

And ironically, it's the 12" cakes I have the hardest times cutting evenly...and I don't think that knife is long enough to poke through both sides of a 12" diameter.
