Searching for a long lost book on healthy lifestyle/eating...

I lost this book 30 years ago during college moves. I got some wonderful recipes (like the tofu, spinach, sesame, and miso on brown rice that I practically lived on in graduate school) and ideas out of it and I was wanting to get another copy, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the book.

It was a very large thick tome of a paperback, the cover was pink if I remember correctly. It was filled with all sorts of folksy lore and cures (like not eating black pepper because it caused "catarrh"--horrors! I didn't like ALL of the ideas in it! ; ), ideas for wellness and lifestyle, recipes sprinkled in and throughout for all sorts of things. It wasn't just a cookbook.

Does anyone have a clue to the name of this book?

TIA

Take a look at oldcooks.com They have pictures of the covers, perhaps you can find it; or

recognize the authors name / title font, if there were different publications.

Hope you find it!!
edited to say, that the website was oldcookbooks.com

it wasn't a "cookbook"...

it was a book about healthy living, folklore, remedies, and contained some recipes in the process. Thanks!

Do you remember if the book was published by a major publisher,

or was it one of those that are published by the author? If it was published by the auhor, it could be an idea to start your research in ther area where you bought it.

Wow, remember the black pepper thing, was by a male doc? Adele Davis was my guide? Will try?

Was it hand-lettered? Did it have a sketch of a naked woman on the cover? If so,

Living on the Earth: Celebrations, Storm Warnings, Formulas, Recipes, Rumors, and Country Dances Harvested by Alicia Bay Laurel, first published 1971 and still in print.

Two slim possibilities but I think they are too old for your time frame:

Carla Emery's Old Fashioned Recipe Book, An Encyclopedia of Country Living (green cover not pink, mine is a 1977 copyright)

Crafts, Cookery, and Country Living by Kim Victoria Abeles (beige cover, hand lettered, 1976 copyright)

So many great suggestions, but unfortunately, not the one...

Trying to remember any clues...

I would guess it wasn't a main stream publisher, it was sort of granola-munching hippy, but very old-fashioned. Author was a man. I bought it in a health food store where I bought my, yes, granola, oats, grains, and herbs in my student days. Can't believe I forgot the name, I read in that book nearly every day when I lived in NYC. It was big thick book, so there was too much to digest all at once.

And thanks to all who are on the hunt!
