Can anyone tell me where to go to do this? Marilyn's hot fudge posts reminded me of a recipe for hot fudge sauce I posted on there several years ago. I'd lost it, found it again and posted it.

Lost it again! Arggg..... Lost the whole folder I had recipes saved in. I know, I know.......

Anyway, thought I'd do a search there but can't find one that goes back past 2006.

It's a very simple recipe that used good quality cocoa but tastes like the old Bob's Big Boy sauce. You cook it over a double boiler for an hour to get the smooth and glossy texture. It's really fabulous!

Anyone know how I can search? Thanks! My son-in-law's birthday is Aug 2 and I want to take homemade ice cream and this hot fudge sauce.

TIA!

There was a thread awhile back about Hot Fudge Sauce for ice cream, etc. I have been making this one for about 25 years. It tastes like the one from the "Big Boy" restaurants, or the old fashioned ice cream shops Hot Fudge from year's gone by. I have made this and given it many times for Christmas gifts and birthday gifts. People love it. Easy, too!

1 stick of butter (no margarine)
1/2 cocoa powder (I use Hershey's but premium might be better..can't imagine it tasting any better, though)
1/4 tsp salt
3 cups sugar
1/4 tsp real vanilla (optional)
15 oz can of evaporated milk (such as Carnation)

Melt butter in top of double boiler. Add cocoa, and mix well. Add remaining ingredients. Cook over simmering water in double boiler for one hour. Keep refrigerated and warm only the amount you need. While cooking time is long and slow, it is needed for a thickened, glossy sauce. Makes one quart

To get to the link, you need to backspace over the 2 "squares" in the address. Is that 1/2 "cup"

cocoa?

Gosh, Dawn......thanks!!!!!

I thought I had the links saved in my Favorites but couldn't find either of them. Appreciate this so much!!!

You the bestest! smileys/smile.gif

GayleMO - this hot fudge sauce is SOOOO much easier and my favorite -

Put into a glass measuring cup, 1 cup whipping cream and 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Microwave 1 minute. Stir well until chips are melted and it is emulsified. Period.

Keeps like this for a week, covered, in the fridge. When you first take it out of the microwave and begin stirring, it doesn't look like much. But pretty soon it comes together and is glossy, rich, thick, and beautiful smileys/smile.gif

Hi Ang - yes! 1/2 cocoa powder

This is such a great recipe and not expensive to make. I gave it in baskets for Christmas many years and got raves over it.

Let me know if you try it. I'm sure it's not as decadent as the one Marilyn made with real chocolate, but it is really good, inexpensive and easy!

Thanks for your help!

I thought the same thing until I went to a chocolate buffet...

There used to be a restaurant in town (closed now) that had on their menu "chocolate bar" as a dessert choice. It was basically 2 long picnic tables covered with every chocolate dessert you could think of. And... if that wasn't enough... at the end were a 1 foot by 2 foot column of dark chocolate, 1 of milk chocolate, and 1 of white chocolate with a shaver so you could shave off pieces. It was an all-you-could-eat buffet. Well..... about halfway through your first plate you realize that not only will you NOT be going back for seconds, but you don't even want to SEE chocolate again for at least a month. Boy, it sure was GOOD though.... fond memories smileys/smile.gif
