recipes that call for baking soda but not baking powder? (like all of these new cookie recipes smileys/smile.gif When I did a search, the only thing that comes up is how to make self rising flour, not how to use self rising/adapt to recipes. Any ideas?? Thanks!

I asked the same question a while ago, can't find it now, but you can

maybe find it if you do a search here at FK - advice I got was to only use recipes intended for SF flour. I use it occasionally in place of AP flour, and I can't tell a difference. Good luck.

The search here didn't address that, but

I did turn up some interesting recipes searching for self rising flour though :)Thanks!

Mo,I wouldn't use it as a sub for all-purpose.My suggestion:return it to the store & exchange it.

Gosh, I use this all the time for quick-breads that call for at least some baking powder.

It makes great corn bread and French Yogurt cake and banana bread and beer batter bread. I have not tried it with baking soda only recipes though. It might have too much leavening for cookies, although I may have used it for the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, which are on the cakey side. I always cut the salt in the recipe if using self rising flour.
