Seussical Potluck Review...

As you can imagine, we had a heck of a good time with this theme. Table decor looked very Easter, but folks were reminded about Horton... Dr. Seuss materials weren't at all available in our limited markets. Oh well...we certainly had COLOR!

For our dining pleasure....

Pink Ink Salad... A pink jello-cool whip salad

Green Eggs and Ham...deviled eggs marbled green with ham spirals on top

Lorax Lasagne...Veggie Lasagne

One Fish Two Fish Jello salad...Blue jello with gummy fish

Roast Beast Sandwiches...Roast beef sandwich platter

Geisel Guac...Guacamole

Whoville Pinwheels...Pinwheel wrap sandwiches with Spinach flat bread, half veggie, half ham and cheese

Sam, I am Salsa...yep...it was salsa!

And the most incredible sculpted Cat's Hat cake... I don't know how they did it and had it be so many layers of cake and mousse...Yum.

For a small staff (8 classrooms, 10 teachers), we did well, and had a good time.

We also had guest readers throughout the day...and had a good representation of our community. I read to our Special Ed. kids, The Butter Battle Book...and we made butter while I read. These are K to 2nd graders, and a tough audience. I figured I'd better build in a "fidget" and butter was such a fun idea! I used 4 oz jelly jars...2 Tbsp. of cream in each jar, and let them shake-shake-shake! 60% had butter at the end of the story. Not too bad! Their teacher did a unit on the Little Red Hen earlier in the week, so they had bread baking while we were making butter. Excellent cooperative planning! And so much fun!

So glad it went well! Very creative menu! I do not remember the Butter Battle Book

but very clever having the students make butter! I recall making butter as a girl scout. It is tough work!

glad it was a successful day!

Not of the potluck, but of several of the readers...Principal had my camera!

That's okay... We'll be making this an annual project! I did get a picture of that cake tho...come to think of it! Will download!
