saves some each year for replanting. It is soooo good. Big cloves that spurt juice when cut. I'd really like to plant some this fall. Anyone have any specific brands to recommend and where to purchase on the net?

Last night I took baby red potatoes, drizzled with olive oil, sliced a few cloves of the garlic really thin, salt and pepper and roasted.

We were fighting over the crispy garlic!

If you mean "fresh" as in still green, like a leek or a scallion, then any type of garlic

would be superior in the green state, I think. It's the freshness that makes the difference.

If the tops have died down and you mean "fresh" as in freshly harvested, then it must be the variety. Maybe you could sneak into her garden and dig around for any stray bits she might have missed.

She needs a "garlic pig" to root around the garden for the garlic, like those truffle pigs.

There is a type of garlig called Elephant garlic and their bulbs are bigger >>

than the other types and it's sweeter in taste. Could it be it?
