Should I worry about a May 8 expiry date on Jenni-O turkey

I neglected to cook Jenni-O Tequila Lime turkey breast tenderloins (sealed package from Costco) by May 8.

How sensitive do you think the date is? I'm planning to open and cook tonight when my boys get home. Sure would hate to find it bad!

The big question:

Really rank? or just somewhat bloody smelling?

Rank--I say toss it out.

Just bloody smelling--wash it well and try cooking it.

Anyway, if you cook it you will soon find out if it is really bad or not--by the smell!

And, of course, when in doubt, throw it out if you are really worried about it

I usually take those dates w/a grain of salt (hehe, no pun intended), especially if it is sealed...

after hearing that many stores just slap a newer "use by" date on them after the first one passes.

Your nose and eyes should be your clue (and with the lime marinade in there, I would think it'd be ok).

Have you ever seen that sealed stuff when the plastic starts to inflate?

That stuff can be pretty funky! smileys/wink.gif
