I know I post this in the old Gail's but it is worth revisiting. Very old recipe from my husband's family and so darn good. You would not know it has bread in it. Written as my mother-in-law said it.
Shrimp, Crab salad
One loaf white bread, remove crust, cut into small cubes
1 large onion, small dice
4 hard boiled eggs, small dice
1 cup tender middle section stalks of celery, small dice
fresh shrimp, use smaller cooked shrimp or cut larger into chunks
fresh crab
3 cups mayonnaise
Combine bread, onion, eggs and celery in a large bowl. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
In morning, add shrimp, crab, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Mix gently, but well. Cover, and place in fridge about three to four hours
Remove from bowl, put into pretty serving dish, garnish with avocado slices and tomato wedges.
Sometimes I like to put this on a platter surrounded by pretty mixed lettuce, cut into bite size pieces. Arrange tomatoes and avocado on top.
Note: do not skimp on shrimp and fresh crab.
