to die for - remarkably tastier than 'normal' hot chocolate. i'll post the recipe if anyone's interested.

Dear WW: Forgive me for I have sinned. I just lusted after Lisa Yockelson's Hot Chocolate....

...clocking in at 696 calories a cup.

Proportions:
6 tablespoons of dark chocolate cream
1 cup of milk
2 tablespoons of sugar
Cream topping to taste

For the dark chocolate cream
• 1 cup heavy cream
• Pinch salt
• 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
Bring to boil. Remove and add
• 8 ounces dark chocolate with a 62-70% cacao
Stir until melted. Add
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the cream topping
• 1/2 cup cold heavy cream
• 1 tablespoon sugar, preferably superfine
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Beat until soft mounds.

To take it over the top, use espresso steamer to foam, then add cream topping.

Wildwoods, does Ina give any nutritional info on her's? (I have to wonder if there are any

calories left on the planet after reading Lisa's.)

Bring it on. After the strawberry dessert thread, a cup of hot chocolate is

just a drop in the ocean. I'll need a new bikini! *LOL*

rec: whipped hot chocolate

2 1/2 cups whole milk (1% was fine)
2 cups half-and-half
4 oz semisweet chocolate chips
4 oz milk chocolate, chopped (i used chips)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tsp instant coffee powder

heat the milk and half-and-half in a large saucepan over medium heat to just below the simmering point. remove the pan from heat and add both chocolates. when they are melted, stir in the sugar, vanilla and coffee powder. reheat gently. whip the mixture in the saucepan with an immersion blender till nice and frothy. serves 4-5. (from ina garten's 'family style')
